New Zealand Pilot Missing.—Pilot Officer Arthur H. M. Wright, of Lower Hutt, New Zealand, is reported missing and believed killed.— London, Feb. 8.
Flight to the Cape.—The Royal Aero Club has awarded Mr Alex. Henshaw the Britannia Trophy for his flight to the Cape, which was adjudged the most meritorious air performance of last year. Mr Hensliaw flew to the Cape in 39£ hour?, the ’return trip, taking only four minutes longer. East Belfast By-election.—ln the East Belfast by-election the Conservative candidate, Mr H. P. Harland, was returned unopposed. He replaces ' Captain Herbert Dixon, now Lord Glentoran.—London, Feb. 8. . ' ' Member Resigns Seat.—Mr J. J.Jones, M.P. (Labour), member for Silverstone Divisibp of West Ham since 1918, has resigned his seat because of ill-health.^ —London, Feb. 8. Rationing of Newspaper.—The Ministry for Supply, to conserve the shilling and the .currency, announced a two-fifths reduction of paper supplies from February 12. The rationing, although at first operating for only three months, will continue after June I.—London, Feb. 8. United States Import Trade.—The Washington correspondent of the “journal of Commerce” states that Import business has been in confusion since the regulation put into effect on January 26, based on the Neutrality Act, and requiring senders of cheques to belligerents to furnish an oath that title has been transferred to the addressee before the dispatch of the goods. The Justice, Post Office, and States Departments are attempting to frame new regulations. —New -York, Feb. g.
