MORE THAN 800 LB FAT IN YEAR

By completing on January 6, 1940, a record of 20,567.71 b milk and 816.221 b fat in 365 days under Government Certificate of Record test, the pedigree Friesian cow, Pareora Echo Butter, Girl created a new record for her breed in North Canterbury, the previous best return being 8111 b fat. Pareora Echo Butter Girl who is the fifth pedigree Friesian in New Zealand to produce more than 8001 b fat ait over 10 years of age was bred by the Timaru studmaster, A. S. Elworthy, but just before commencing her record-breaking test was purchased by R. E. A. Gillrhan, of Woodend, under whose care she produced her excellent totals. Calving at lOyrs 233 days—her eighth lactation period to date-^Pareora, Echo Butter Girl proved a most consistent producer, her monthly returns being:

Pareora Echo Butter Girl is the third daughter of Rosevale Echo Burkeyje to produce over 800,b fat under official test. This proven sire is linebred to the great Canadian sire Inka Sylvia Beets Posch (daughters up to 12571 b fat) being, a son of Echo Sylvia Sir Griselda (Imp.) and a grandson of Burkeyje Sylvia Posch (Imp.) a great-grandson and a daughter respectively of the Canadian champion. Pareora Echo Butter Girl is also , linebred to two great

American sires through her dam, Pareora Butter Girl Cadilac, .C.O.R. 6261 b fat at 2yrs. The latter is sired by Pareora Cadilac Hero, whose sire and dam are both from imported daughters of Colantha Johanna Lad, while her dam. Butter Girl of Groteholm, is by a son and from a grand-daughter of King Segis Wildrose Homestead, imported son of King Segis. ( While under test during the last season, Pareora Echo Butter Girl was exhibited at the Ellesmere, Northern (Rangiora), Canterbury and Banks Peninsula Shows, winning the championship at all four shows, while at the Banks Peninsula fixture she was also made champion dairy cow of all breeds. In addition, she holds the official classification of the . N.Z. Friesian Association of V.H.C., and that she is passing on to her progeny her own desirable qualities is shown by the fact that her only daughter classified to date was awarded an H.C.
