INCOME TAX

TO TUB EDI lOk ul TBB PRESS Sir, —Britain’s first, wqr Budget was introduced in the House of Commons last September by the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Its chief provision jvas an increase of 7s. 6d in the £ on indome tax from January of this year. Will you, or one of your correspondents, kindly advise how this compares, with income tax in New Zealand? I have always understood that New Zealanders are the highest taxed people in the world. Judging by my own small fixed income and the constant demands on it by the Commissioner of Taxes I should think that this was so .-Yours. .te jnqotbkr, February 9, 1940.
