CIVIC RECEPTION HELD AT

AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, February 3.

Cordiality marked the civic reception to the Marquis and Marchioness of Willingdon in the Town Hall municipal chamber. The attendance included representatives of local bodies,, the consular corps, and representative citizens. The guests were also entertained earlier at a reception by the Royal Empire Society, the Navy League, the Victoria League, the Overseas League, and the Royal Society of SL George. Stating he . had always been an optimist. Lord Willingdon said he did. not believe that the war would be a long one He emphasised the need for the integral parte of the British- Empire to draw still closer together.
