The Walisend Mine, which hag been elosed for a fortnight, will net resume to-morrow. The Miners* Union On Friday decided to resume work, but a notice has been posted at 'Waiis.ehd stating that the mine is closed until further notiee. All employees at the mine except the permanent office staff, and about lo “safety** men, including the manager electrician, and underviewer, have been dismissed. About 120 men are af= fected The miners approached the manager yesterday, and stated that they were prepared to resume to-morroW, but the decision to close the.mine had already been made. The Dobson miners met this morning to discuss again the •holiday pay dispute, which has made the two mines idle for the last fortnight, but it is unlikely that the mine will resume tomorrow. Notices terminating their employment issued to 4he Dohson mine, permanent staff have not yet expired. . .... About 480 men are affected m the mines. .... .....
