UNITED MEDICAL BOARD
YEAR’S WORK REVIEWED > Reviewing the annual report of the United Medical and Hospital Board at its meeting on Friday, the chairman (Bro. A. Martin) congratulated the delegates of the two affiliated societies (1.0. Rechabites and Sons of Temperance) on the success of last year’s operations. There had been a decrease In the membership, probably because of the Social Security Act, but he hoped that a better understanding of the board’s functions would rectify this in the near future. A total of 242 patients-had been admitted to the public, private, and infectious diseases hospital, and the sanatorium under this scheme, during the period under review, and a total of 79,547 beds had been occupied by members for treatment since the board was first constituted. The hospital relief scheme had been inaugurated, and a committee had been set up to devise ways and means of giving additional benefits to members. The loss to the board caused by the passing of the late Bro. C. Kent was keenly felt by delegates. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Chairman, Bro. A. Martin; financial secretary, Bro. C. H. Bascand; minutes secretary, Bro. W. Grenfell; stewards, Bros. Liebert and H. Taylor; auditors, Bros. W. Grenfell and J. C. Wykes. • The case of a distressed member was referred to the unemployment committee.
