CITY FURNITURE STORE DAMAGED IN FIRE

Part of an old wooden building used by G. G. Brooks and Son, furniture manufacturers, of 99 Tuam street, was damaged by fire about 10 o’clock last night. The building was used to store furniture, several articles of which were destroyed, but the outbreak was confined through the efforts of the Christchurch Central Fife Brigade to two small front rooms and part of the internal structure of the building. . _ , The fire started in one of the front rooms, and it was in this room that several bed-frames and a number of other articles were burnt. Other articles in the building suffered only minor damage from the heat and water. It is not known whether the contents of the building were insured.
