The lady editor of "The Press" gratefully acknowledges a donation for the Pioneer Women's Memorial from Mrs Eliza Kimber, who walked over the Bridle path in 1857. Henri Dunant, the Swiss banker and philanthropist, whose charity and inspiration were responsible for the establishment of the Red Cross Society, spent his own. private fortune in bringing . the organisation into being, and thereafter lived in poverty and obscurity—a noble but tragic Jittle figure. In his old age, and even in his earlier years, many fine people regarded him as an eccentric. Even now but little is known of him. Nearly 30 years have passed since his death, and only recently has the story of his life and his great life's work been published (by Martin Gumpert). But his memory will live through the centuries and his name will be revered by wounded and sick soldiers and other sufferers who experience the gentle ministrations of the Red Cross. The only rheumatic remedy backed by a straight-out money back guarantee is R.U.R.; each 7/6 packet has the guarantee attached. R.U.R., the perfect rheumatic treatment, laxative and health remedy, is also sold in a 47size. —5
