SOCIAL AND PERSONAL
Mrs P. R. Woodhouse and daughters (Blue Cliffs) left yesterday for a visit to Wellington. Miss Pamela Orbell (Pentlow) has returned from a visit to Mrs S. W. Nolan, Gisborne.
Mr and Mrs F. I. Washbourn and Miss Joan Washbourn have returned from Nelson. Mr and Mrs C. W. Webber have returned from Otago Central. Mrs T. Her rick, who has been visiting Mrs E. J. Herrick (Hawke's Bay), has returned to stay with her parents, Mr and Mrs C. L. Orbell (Pentlow). Mrs Herrick will leave next week to join her husband, Lieutenant Herrick, at Malta.
Miss Netta McLeod was met on the eve of her marriage by members of the Timaru Baptist Church, on whose behalf the Rev. A. L. Silcock preseated her with a firescreen. In doing so, he referred to Miss McLeod's faithful service to the church. Other speakers were Messrs J. Brownlee (choir), E. Spence (Endeavour), and J. Sutherland (Sunday school). Mrs P. Pitcaithly (Lyttelton) is visiting her daughter, Mrs Bruce Baxter.
ENGAGEMENT NOTICE
The engagement is announced between Raymond Knight, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. Bellam, of 26 Latter street, ' Timaru, to Margaret, eldest daughter of Mrs R. A. Dick, of Christchurch.
The engagement is announced of Marguerite Gwy'nneth Joan, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J. L. Henderson (Te Ngawai road, Pleasant Point), to Thomas Hamilton, third son pf Mr and Mrs T. A. Croft, "Hamilton Glens," Omihi. .
