OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Service) WELLINGTON. January 15. The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 5 pun. by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Moderate winds, north-easterly predominating on the coast, and north-westerly inland. Some showers in the ranges, otherwise the weather fair and milder. Seas slight or moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast is;— Moderate winds from a westerly quarter. Weather changeable, with occasional rain. Moderate to mild temperatures. Moderate seas. DOMINION The following is the Dominion forecast: — For the most part fair to cloudy. Still rather changeable, however, with occasional showers in western districts, and isolated showers extending at times across the ranges. Moderate temperatures. A weak, low pressure trough associated with the recent cyclone lies through Cook- Strait, otherwise the situation is developing into one of a westerly type. Winds—From between north-west and south-west, but with south-west predominating: force strong in some exposed positions in the South Island, otherwise mainly moderate. Seas. New Zealand waters—Rather rough on parts of the West Coast, moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea; Moderate to fresh west to south-west winds, moderate to rather rough seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was cooler and overcast. There was a light south-west wind in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 65 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast and a light northerly wind was blowing. The temperature was 54 degrees. The barometer, rising slowly, read 29.95 in (1014.2 millibars). IN OTHER PLACES Auckland—The day was cloudy, dull and humid, with light westerly showers. The maximum temperature was 76 degrees and the minimum 57 degrees. The barometer at 5 b-m. read 29.80 inches (1009 millibars). Wellington—The sky was overcast with a moderate north-westerly wind. Light rain fell in the evening. The minimum temperature on Sunday night was 54 8 degrees, the maximum on Monday being 64.2 degrees. At 6 p.m. the temperature was 57.5 degrees. The barometer "reading was 1004.7 millibars. Dunedin—Heavy rain again fell early yesterday morning, but the clouds were less threatening later.
