NEW HALF-CROWNS

ISSUE IN CHRISTCHURCH The New Zealand Centennial halfcrowns were issued in Christchurch for the first time yesterday. The obverse side of the coin bears an effigy of the King, without, a crown, with the inscription) "George Sixth, King-Emperor." On the reverse side the figure of a Maori woman stands before a background of Maori and modern buildings. The inscription is "New Zealand Centennial Half-crown" within the border and below in the scroll the dates 1840-1940.
