Hay constructed a home-made glider in 1910, and added astronomy to his hobbies. He now owns a telescope weighing two" and a half tons, and has written a book on astronomy. He is one of the most popular stars on the radio, although he - is an infrequent broadcaster. He, ; prefers films to stage. He has played, a headmaster in "Good Morning, fioys," a sea captain in "Windbag the Sailor," a solicitor in "Where There's a Will," a headmaster again, in "Boys'* Will be Boys," a stationmaster in "Oh, MrPorter!", a convict-cum-prison governor in "Convict 99," a school tutor in "Hey Hey! U.5.A.," and a schoolmaster to. West African natives in "Old Bones of River." He is now a country "copper" in "Ask a Policeman," a comedy about a smuggling episode in a verv tame country village. "The Mind 'of Mr Reeder," - starring Will Fyffe and Kay Walsh, is the associate feature.
Whether Mr Reeder—as Will Fyffe interprets him—is sipping hot milk and dreaming of his chicken farm in his
study, or whether he is relentlessly tracking down the gang of criminals that-have-harassed Scotland Yard for some time,.at all times he is a human, lovable figure. "The Mind of Mr Reeder," as fol-
lowers of Edgar Wallace are no doubt well aware, deals with, the manner in which a gang of counterfeiters are tracked down by the old gentleman who carries an umbrella from th» special branch, of Scotland Yard.
