[THE PRESS Special Service] WELLINGTON, January 4. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours . following the time of issue, is as follows: Light to fresh winds from between north-east and north-west. Weather fair to fine and warm. Sea slight. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to fresh winds from a westerly quarter. Weather fair and warm, but scattered rain developing in the south. Sea moderate, but rising. . DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:— Weather fair to fine and warm, but with scattered rain developing to-morrow in the far south-west and south. An intense anticyclone extends over New Zealand from the north-west. Winds—Light to moderate and variable over the North Island, gradually freshening northerlies to north-west-erlies about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rather rough south of Westport and about Foveaux Strait, elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light and variable winds and slight seas in the northern portion: fresh to strong northwesterly winds and rough seas in the southern portion. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine in Christchurch yesterday, with a bright morning and the sun shining intermittently in the afternoon. The wind was from the north-east and the maximum temperature during the day was 64 degrees. . . At 1 o'clock this morning the sky was clear and there was no wind. The temperature was 56 de-: grees. IN OTHER PLACES Auckland—The weather was fine and sunny yesterday, with a light south-west breeze. The minimum temperature on Wednesday night was 48.2 degrees, and the maximum yesterday 68.8 degrees. At 6 p.m. yesterday the temperature was 61.3 degrees, and the barometer registered 1025.6 millibars. Dunedin—The weather in the morning was fine and calm, but a light breeze prevailed from the, south-west in the afternoon, and the sky became overcast and rain threatened for some time.
