TWO-RANGE MATCH AT REDCLIFFS

HIGH STANDARD OF SCORING ■' (By BULLSEYE.) The Sydenham Defence Rifle, Club fired its fourth competition at Re'dcliffs .on Saturday. With brilliant sunshine and only a light easterly wind to-contend with, the conditions were all in, favour of the marksmen, and the scoring throughout was of 'an exceptionally '■ high standard ■- The winner was P. Morgan, who scored" a total of 103 off the rifle, included in which was a possible at 500 yards His score card read: 300 yards. Eleven shots were fired at 300 yards, and 10 shots at 500 yards, with optional sighters at each distance. The following were the results. —

High Scoring High scaring was a feature of the Sydenham Defence Rifle Club's fourth competition at Redcliffs on Saturday. W. Tritt. F. Hodge, and S. O. Hay: 3DO yards, 4—5445555555; 500 yards, 4—5544555 554. • North Island Championships : The North Island championship meeting arranged by the Wanganui-West .Coast Rifle Association was held on. the ■Putiki raage: F.J; Sole* (Wanganui) won the North Island.title in the A.grade section. The runner-up was I. Ford, also of the Wanganui ■ Club. The B grade title was won by W. Howard (Wanganui) with*lßs. and the runnerup was D. R. McKenzie (Christchurch) with 184. The Wanganui No. 1 team scored an aggregate of 569„ and won the teams' match, and Opaki with 566 was second,. .. _ , _ , In the optional aggregate, F. J. Brown, a member of the oldest civilian rifle club in Australia (the Melbourne Rifle Ciub) was in great form at Williamstown. on a recent Saturday, scaring a double possible over 300 and 500 yards. He scored only 32 at 600 yards, however, and was counted out by J. Callaghan, also of the Melbourne Club with 35, 34, 33. Another well-known international,. A. Aikenhead (Caulfield), scored 101 points, and Arthur Pitman (New South Wales) scored a seven shot possible at 500 yards.
