STEAMER EXPRESS SERVICE

MANY PASSENGERS TRAVELLING

There has been exceptionally heavy passenger traffic on the steamer express service during the last week, including many full bookings. Last night the Rangatira took about 1000 passengers from Lyttelton and the Tamahine, which the Union Company put on to cope with the extra traffic, was also a full ship when she left Lyttelton.

Some hundreds of soldiers, returning from final leave sailed by the two vessels and their departure was watched by a very large crowd of relatives and friends.
