HARMONIC SOCIETY CAROL CONCERT
For several years the Christchurch Harmonic Society has celebrated the Christmas season with a concert of carols and excerpts from “The Messiah,” This year's performance will be given in the Durham Street Methodist Church on Monday evening, when carols old and new, popular and less well known, will combine to make an interesting and inspiring programme. Assisting the society will be the Boys’ High School choir, whose reputation is very high. The ’soloists will be Misses Audrey Holdgate and Ruth Royds. Mr MelviUe La wry will be at the organ; The concert Is partly In aid of a fund ior the support oi Miss Jean McLeod, the brilliant, young Christchurch pianist, who Is now studying in London. Miss McLeod has been successful in winning some of the highest awards of the Royal College of Music, and it is hoped that her friends will assist in making it possible for her to prolong her stay at the college.
