♦ MAN SENT TO GAOL FOR NINE MONTHS (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, October 25; ''Joseph Eric Cornish,. aged 27, a labourer, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, and was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment with hard labour, being six months for the theft of a handbag and its contents, valued at £l2 9s 7id, and three months on another theft charge, involving Bs. He was described as an old offender who preferred to live by. stealing. He. was seen by men in a passing car when he snatched a bag from a woman in Pirie street, Wellington. One followed while the others drove to the Mount Cook police station to get a constable.
