OPENING OF THE BOATING SEASON The official opening of the boating season on the Avon will take place on Saturday afternoon. Proceedings will commence with a procession of decorated boats, which will leave the Canterbury Bowing Club’s boathouse at 2.30 pm. The eight-oar boats will follow, and' "darktown” crews will provide the amusement. Between 3 pan. and 4 p.m. a series of inter-club rowing races will be held, and a cross-country teams’ race will be run. Afternoon tea will be obtainable at the boathouses and the Avon and Union clubs will hold dances in the evening.
