AMBERLEY FOOTBALL TEAM’S SUCCESS
COMPLIMENTARY BANQUET GIVEN
The residents of the district gave a complimentary banquet to the members of the Amberley Football Club’s team, which won the North Canterbury SubUnion’s senior competition and also the Cameron Shield. Mr A. Burke presided and Mr T. Casserley was secretary of the committee. a
Entertainment was provided by Messrs A. E. Romerill, T. West, S. L. Fleming. L. Mason, S. Comfort, WPreston, and A, Dey. Mr D. H. Davis was the accompanist.
The toast-list was as follows:—“ The King,” proposed by Canon H. O. Hanby; “The Canterbury Rugby Union,” proposed by the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, M.P., and responded to by Mr J. K. Moloney: “The North Canterbury Rugby Sub-Union,” proposed by Mr H. V. Mockett, responded to by Mr S. Piki; “Amberley Football Club,” proposed by Mr W. F. Blackwell, responded to by Mr W- Boyce, vice-president, in the unavoidable u absence of Mr W. H. Candy, the president; “The Winning Team,” proposed by Mr W. J. Watson, responded to by Mr L. Croft, the team’s captain: “Old-time Amberley Players,” proposed by Mr I. Boyce, responded to by Messrs W. A. Parsons, A. F. Wagner. and F. Adams; “The Referees,” proposad by Mr John Courage, responded to by Mr W. Hampton; “Associated Clubs',” proposed by Mr W. E. Chamberlain, responded to by Mr A. H. Inch (Oxford) and Mr F. Quigley (Glenmark); “The Ladies,” proposed by Mr A. Burke, responded to by Mr
H. Adlington; “The Entertainers” proposed by Mr T. Casserley, responded to by Mr- Alex. Dey. Presentations were made to Mr W. E. Chamberlain (coach) and Mr CReeves, a player, who were recently married.
