FOUR MEN HURT CAR GOES OVER BANK CTSE.33 iSSOCHTIOS TELEOKHt.) ■WELLINGTON, October 1. Four men were injured when a car went over a bank on the Khandal-lah-Johnsonville road on Saturday night. The injured were:— _ A Johnstone, tractor driver, 25 Marion street, Wellington, head injuries and concussion. T. Lennox, labourer, Public Works Department, Plimmerton, head injuries, concussion. , ■ J. McGreavy. labourer, Plimmerton, dislocated left hip, severe shock, and scalp wounds. E. May. labourer, 95 Ghuznee street, Wellington, fractured left thigh, lacerated wounds to the left ear and scalp, and shock. . CAR OVERTURNS NEAR GERALDINE Three Ashburton men narrowly escaped serious injury on Saturday night, when the light car in which they were travelling north to Ashburton developed a skid and turned over two or three times near a bridge about two miles north of Geraldine. The driver of the car was Thomas Gordon Broker. The passengers were Peter John Alexander Broker, a brother of the driver, and Herbert Raymond Amos. The accident occurred at 9 o’clock in the evening. After turning over, the car came to rest on its wheels, but was damaged so extensively that it could not be moved. The three men were picked up by a railway bus and brought to Ashburton. They suffered only minor injuries, and after receiving attention from Dr. G. I. Miller, were able to go to their homes. PEDESTRIAN FATALLY HURT WANGANUI, October 1. Injuries which resulted in his death on Sunday morning in the Wanganui Hospital were received at Marton on Saturday night by John Joseph Stopforth, of Te Awamutu. The accident occurred in Station street. Stopforth, who was walking on the bitumen roadway, was struck by a car driven by Frank Barry, of Foxton. MAN’S DEATH FROM INJURIES AUCKLAND, October 1. As a result of injuries received in the Papakura Military Camp on September 22, when he was struck by a collapsing wall, Arthur William Dicks, aged 44, married, died in the Auckland Hospital. He was a carpenter and lived at Parau. KICKED BY HORSE A fracture of the left thigh was suffered by G. Everest, of 17 Lees road, Bryndwr, when he was kicked by a horse which he was feeding yesterday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. ‘ BOY INJURED Head injuries were suffered by a pedestrian. Barry Turpin, aged about 12, of 112 Kilmore street, in a collision with a car in Tuam street, near the City Council testing station, at 4.55 p.m. on Saturday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition last night was reported to be satisfactory.
