RESTRICTIONS AND WAIKUKU BEACH

OPINION OF DOMAIN BOARD CHAIRMAN

The opinion that the petrol restrictions would probably have no effect on the popularity or prosperity of Waikuku Beach was expressed by the chairman of the Rangiora-Waikuku Beach Domain Board (Mr J. Mason), in discussing the sale of hot water at the beach, at the board’s meeting on Friday evening. Other members agreed that if some persons reduced visits to the beach, others in the habit of going further afield would now be diverted to Waikuku. It was decided that the chairman should represent the board at the conference next week to discuss centennial planting of the new road to the beach. A bank balance of £76 18s 2d was reported. The board agreed that those who had not paid rates should be prohibited from letting baches till payment was made. The purchase of a mower for the domain was again discussed, and it was stated that if satisfactory terms with the Waikuku Beach Improvement Association could not be made the matter- would probably lapse. Messrs Mason, Tyler, and Dalzell were appointed a sub-committee to attend to the question.
