ENGLISH’ WOMEN’S TEAM NEW ZEALAND TOUR CANCELLED The New Zealand and Australian tour of the English women’s cricket team, planned to take place in February next year as part of, the centennial celebrations, has now been cancelled because of the international situation. ; The ■ secretary of the New Zealand Women’s Cricket Council (Mrs D. Bentley) has received the following cablegram from the English Women’s Association:— ‘‘Regret international conditions make tour an impossibility. Trust it is a pleasure deferred, but our country needs . us.” The English team was-to have left next month for Australia, and was .expected to arrive in New Zealand next February. Three matches were intended in New Zealand—a test match against a New Zealand team at Wellington, against ' the North Island team at Auckland, and the South Island at Christchurch. •
