'W'OTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at **■” a Special Meeting of the Eyre County Council held •on Monday the Fourth day of September 1939 the following resolution was passed and .will be submitted for confirmation at the ordinary Meeting of the Council to be held at the Office of the Eyre County Council at Ohoka on Monday the Second day of October 1939 at,the hour of 10 a.m. as a Special Order; — RESOLUTION “That the Council having received a Petition signed by not less than one half of the ratepayers of that part of the County more particularly described in the Schedule hereto requesting the Council to declare such part of the said County to be a district for the construction therein of drainage works in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it by Section 168 of The Counties Act 1920 hereby declares that part of the Eyre County as described in the Schedule hereto to be a drainage .district within the meaning of the said Section 168 of the Counties Act for the construction of drainage works therein and that such district shall be known as the ‘Kaikanui Creek Drainage District’.” SCHEDULE ALL that land situated in Block 3 of the Christchurch Survey District and Block 15 of the Rangiora Survey District and bounded" "as follows:—Commencing at a point on the intersection of the left bank of the Waimakariri river and the Main North Highway thence in a south-westerly direction along the North-westerly side of Greig’s Drain Road to the eastern corner of R.S. 2380 thence generally along the north-western and western boundaries of Rural Sections 2380, 850 and 820 to the Waimakariri River thence along the left bank of the Waimakariri river to Mabers road thence in a westerly direction along the north-eastern boundary of Mabers road to the north branch of the Waimakariri river thence in a northerly direction along the right bank of the north branch of the Waimakariri river to Giles road thence in a northerly direction along the southeastern side of Giles road to the intersection of Giles road and Neeves road thence in an easterly direction along the southern side of Neeves road to the intersection of Neeves road and Island road thence in a northerly direction along the eastern side of Island road to the intersection of Island road and the Ohoka and Kaiapoi road thence in an easterly direction along the southern side of Ohoka and Kaiapoi roads to the intersection of Ohoka and Kaiapoi roads and Peraki street thence in a southerly direction along the western side of Peraki street to the intersection of Peraki street and Cemetery road thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western side of Cemetery road to the intersection of Cemetery road and the Main North road thence in 3 northerly direction along the eastern side of the Main North road to the southern boundary of Lot 8 on Deposit Plan 2304 thence in an easterly. direction along the southern boundary of Lot 8 and Lot 15 on the said Deposit Plan 2304 and continuing on in an easterly direction in a straight line to the Main North Railway line thence along the southern boundary of the said Railway line to the left bank of the old south branch of the Waimaka- j riri river thence along the left bank of the old south branch of the Waimakariri river to the. Main North road thence generally in a southerly and south-easterly direction along the eastern side of the Main North road to the commencing point.

Applications, accompanied by documentary evidence of examinations passed, two testimonials as to character, and copy of Birth Certificate, are invited up to Ist OCTOBER, 1939, for entry to a Teachers’ Training College under Divisions A, B, C, and D. ■ Applications, with the exception of those from candidates who wish to be admitted under Division B, should be addressed to the Education Board of the district in which the candidate’s home or usual place of residence is situated. Candidates for admission as students of Division C may submit their applications in anticipation of their obtaining the necessary academic Qualifications by the time the Training College opens. To be admitted in Division C an applicant must be a graduate of a recognised University or have, as a matriculated student, satisfactorily completed a three years’ course in Agriculture or < Home Science at _ a College recognised by the University of New Zealand, or have obtained some other educational qualification that' in the opinion of the Director is equivalent thereto. The minimum academic qualification for admission in Division A is a pass in the University Entrance Examination or the School Certificate Examination OBTAINED PRIOR TO 1939; candidates who are sitting for these examinations in 1939 will not be regarded as possessing the minimum academic qualification. Other things being equal, preference will be given I to candidates with academic qualifica- I tions higher than the minimum. It should, be noted that a pass in the i Training College Entrance Examination gained prior to 1939 and the Higher Leaving Certificate are to be regarded as of equal value. Candidates for admission as students of Division B should address their applications, not later than the Ist OCTOBER, 1939, to the Director of Education, Education Department, Wellington. A candidate under this division must satisfy the Director regarding:—(a) age, (b) educational qualifications, (c) character and health, and must pay into the Public Account within seven days after commencement of each term fees amounting to £7/7/-. To be admitted in Division D an applicant must (a) be the holder of a New Zealand Teacher’s Certificate not lower than Class D, or a New Zealand Handicraft Teacher’s Certificate; (b) have been for such period as may be approved by the Director regularly employed in teaching in a registered school or schools; (c) have been approved for training by the Director of Education. The course of a student of Division D shall be for such period as the Director. shall determine and shall be wholly professional or partly academic and partly professional as the Senior Inspector may recommend. No candidate will be selected for admission unless he or she is at least SEVENTEEN YEARS OF AGE ON THE 28th FEBRUARY OF THE YEAR IN WHICH HE OR SHE IS ADMITTED. Candidates will require to be medically examined by the School Medical Officers and interviewed by the Selection Committee, at times to be arranged at convenient centres, due notice of which will be given.
