FRIDAY (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) CHARGE DISMISSED Lawrence Clarke and Henry Vine Collett pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawfully converting to their own use a motor-truck, valued at £l2O, the property of Rupert Spencer. Mr Tracy said that the action of the accused, who had never been before the Court previously, was a foolish prank, the result of taking liquor. A statement made by Collett to the police was read. He stated that he had made a bet with Clarke that Clarke could not start any car on the street. . , - The Magistrate said that the accused had probably learned a lesson, and dismissed the case on payment of all costs SUSPENDED SENTENCE Walter Boulnois was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months on a charge of being idle and disorderly. TRAFFIC BREACHES The following penalties, with orders to pay costs, unless otherwise stated, were imposed for breaches of the traffic tfcgvtadtohs-, Cycling without light—Ronald Kenneth Brownlees, costs only; Thomas Edgar Murfitt, 10s. Driving without due care—Charles Henry Franklin, 20s; John Gordon Gregor, 20s; Gladys Mary Johnstone. 20s. No warrant of fitness —Joseph Desmond Warden. 10s; Gladys Mary Johnstone, costs only. No driving licence —Nanette O Conhell, costs only. It was stated in our report of the proceedings in the Maintenance Court on Monday that maintenance orders for two children were made against Leslie Alexander Bailey, at the rate of 7s 6d a week for each. Actually the proceedings instituted against Mr Bailey , were withdrawn. There was no mention of any childrsn in the plaint. No order was made by the Court.
