FIRST CHORAL FESTIVAL

DISTRICT METHODIST CHURCH CHOIRS SERVICES MAY BE HELD EACH YEAR Combined Methodist Church choirs of the North Canterbury held their first choral festival at Rangiora on Thursday night, and the hope has been expressed that the choral festival services will in future be annual.

The congregation at the Methodist Church, Rangiora, on Thursday evening, was large. The service was conducted by the Rev. H. Ryan, of Rangiora, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Hall. Woodend.

The choir of about 60 voices sang the anthems “Sins of My Soul,” “The Day Thou Gavest,” and “Jerusalem,” and' “Brother James Air,’ and selected hymn studies and responses. Mr F. A. Lane was organist. The secretary of the festival was Mr E. C. Horsley At a meeting after the service, when visiting members were entertained at supper by the Rangiora choir, tentative arrangements were made for a festival service next year, RANGIORA VITAL 1 STATISTICS INCREASED NUMBER OF .. Mr D. Hammond presided. Officers were elected as follows:—Patrons, Messrs L. Coxoti and T. A. Cloudesley; president. Dr. R. L. Withers; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Harris and W. A. Ferry; committee. Messrs W. A. Nelson (chairman), D. Hammond (secretary), J. W. Anderson (treasurer), J. Nelson, S, Kerr. L. Boyd, and J. Langley. GOLR .
