' Children To Be Evacuated In Britain HERR , HITLER’S DECISION NOW AWAITED Polish Navy Moves to Battle Stations A sudden deterioration in the European situation is reported as the crisis moves towards a climax. All eyes are turned towards Germany in expectation of Herr Hitler’s reply to the latest British communication. The tempo of the Polish defence measures has quickened dqring the last 24 hours. The Polish Navy has been instructed to take up battle positions, and Polish territorial waters have been proclaimed a danger area. Government circles in Warsaw are taking a grave view of the situation. . .. In London the Ministry of Health announced that school children would be evacuated. It is emphasised, however, that this is not to be taken as an indication that war is inevitable. The British reply to Herr Hitler’s latest communication was delivered to the German Foreign Minister (Herr von Ribbentrop) early yesterday morning by the British Ambassador (Sir Nevile Henderson). The German Cabinet had eaHier been summoned to the Chancellery by Herr Hitler. It is stated in authoritative quarters in London that * the British reply was such that a further communication from Herr Hitler is likely.
