FURTHER HEAVY RAIN
Further heavy, rain fell at Lyttelton on Sunday night and yesterday morning, and some damage was done.' There were several small slips, and at least one stone wall was brought down: "Late yesterday, afternoon a large slip of about 100 tons,occurred just below, the Sumner road. Part of the' debris fell on to a shed in the Borough Council yard, carrying away one wall and the roof, which was supported by heavy uprights. v
All about the town yesterday morning watercourses . were formed in most unusual places, and road surfaces were damaged by scouring.
