TRAMWAY BOARD ELECTION
CANDIDATimE Of' MR W. J. WALTER Mr W. J. Walter, who lias represented the Avon-New Brighton district on the Christchurch ' Tramway Board for the last 21 years, and' is agam seeking re-election, held the first meeting of friends and supporters in the AranUi Hall. Mr F. B. Hughes presided over a large attendance. Mr Walter gave an address on tram-! way matters and answered many <juestions,at the close of the address. Many expressed appreciation of the good work accomplished by Mr Walter on the board.
On the motion of Mr J. Bushell, sec°pded by Mr H. M. Hall, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Walter for his address, and also a motion that the meeting had full confidence in him as Its candidate.
On the motion of Mr E. Rouse all present formed themselves into a-com-mittee : (with. : power to add) toi work for Mr Walter’s return at the coming election. Mr F. B, Hughes was appointed chairman and Mr R. Lisle secretary.
