Biwaka early yesterday morning after a mysterious disappearance"from Auckland, Eric Stanley Watts, alias, Stanley Dray, appeared in ithe •' Magistrate’s Coutt at Motueka on a charge that, on or about January 17, 1939, at Auckland, ' he obtained the sum of £173 from Thomas Arthur Taylor by meaps of, a false .pretence, namely,, by .falsely representing that he .'was authorised; by ;the .T. and Gt. Assurance Society to ; sell; a ;surrendered policy.that was actually held for 'sale by, th,e-flrm mentioned,-whereas in fact nonsuch policy existed. Constable Smith said that the warrant had been issued from Auckland.
Accused was remanded to appear at Auckland on August 23.- - , ' -
