YACHT NOT SIGHTED
PARTED FROM TRAWLER IN GALE ANXIETY AT CHATHAM ISLANDS (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, July 17. A radio message received by the Director of the General Post Office from the superintendent of the Chatham Islands radio station, states that the captain of the trawler South Sea reported that the yacht Faith, with a crew of three, left the trawler on the north coast late on Saturday night during a gale and had not returned yet. Patrols were searching the coast near the trawler’s position. Continuous radio connexion is being made with the South Sea and a warning has been broadcast to shipping to keep a iooK°ULate to-night the Chatham Islands radio station reported that the patrols had returned at 9 o’clock to-night, there being no sign of the yacht or the crew The captain of the South Sea advised further that he intended sending out five launches to-morrow morning to continue the search. The Faith, which is owned by Mr W. Marsh, of Christchurch, has been fishing at the islands lor some months. Those aboard when she parted company with the South Sea were MiMarsh, his brother, Mr J. Marsh, and Mr Roy Hough, a Chatham Islander. The Faith was built in Christchurch by Mr Marsh, and early this year made a trip from Lyttelton to the islands and back. She is a stoutly-built seagoing craft of similar design to the famous Teddy, in which Erling Tambs cruised from Norway to Auckland.
