CONCERT HELD AT SHIRLEY

EFFORT TO RAISE FUNDS TO INSTALL ORGAN To raise funds towards the cost of installing the pipe organ in the Shirley Methodist Church, the members of the Shirley Joy spreader s’ Club held a concert in the schoolroom on Saturday evening. The following programme, which was enjoyed by a large audience, was presented: —Opening chorus, “Be a Good Scout,” club members: humorous recitation, Miss R. Emmett; chorus, “Melody Lane.” club members; character song. Miss Margaret Josslyn; one-act play, “Cornelia Pickle, Plaintiff,” Misses Nancy Tait, Ngaire Hay,‘Audrey Kingston, Kathleen Jessop, Madge Holland, Nancy Moore, Joan Holland, Betty Tait, Alison Marks, Alma Moore, Marjory Johnson, Elsie Gordon, Jean Gordon. Yvonne Kingston, and Emma Williams; gipsy chorus, club members; tap dance, Norma Turner; one-act play, “Ferrill’s Fix.” Misses Elwyh Jessop, 1 Molly Tait. Alison Sharpe, Betty Tait, and Jean Gordon. The accompanists were Misses Elwyn Jessop and Jean Leighton. Lighting effects were supplied by Mr W. D. Marks. It was announced that the new organ, which has been presented to the church by ths Shirley Saxon Club, will be dedicated on Saturday evening, July 29, after which there will be an organ recital by Mr R. E. Lake.
