LOCAL MARKETS QUIET PRICE LEVELS MAINTAINED Share markets in Christchurch were quiet on call yesterday, and recorded dealings were restricted. Price levels generally were well maintained.

Buyers of Standard Insurance raised their bids to 53s 9d, without attracting sellers. Adelaide Steam were firmer on buyers’ offers 33s 9d. Buyers of New Zealand Refrigerating CIOs paid) raised their bids to Bs. but sellers wanted 8s Bd. New Zealand Breweries were weaker with sellers at 375. Broken Hill Proprietary were firm at 69s but closed with sellers at 68s lid. buyers at 68s sd. Dunlop Rubber were fractionally weaker with buyers and dealings at 21s 6d, sellers at 21s Bd. Sellers of Electrolytic Zinc (pref.) reduced their limits to 57s 6d, buyers at 55s 9d. 1.C.1. (Australia and New Zealand, pref.) were firm at 24s 80, market closing 24s 3d buyers. 24s 9d sellers Wool-worths, Ltd., were fractionally weaker with sellers and dealings at 245, buyers at 23s lOd. Woolworths (New Zealand) were firmer on buyers’ offers, 17s. , . in Mount Morgan changed hands at lus 9d and more were offered at 10s Bd, buyers at 10s 4d. Grey River were a shade easier at 17s lOd, market closing 17s 6d buyers, 17s lid sellers.
