WARRANTS OF FITNESS
IMPROVED TYPE SUGGESTED
The opinion that warrants of fitness should be fixed to the windscreens of motor-cars was expressed by delegates to the quarterly meeting yesterday of the South Island Motor Union. The enforcement of this, it was said, would eliminate much of the inconvenience and confusion now caused in raids by traffic inspectors. .. ‘ Subject to the agreement of the North Island Motor Union, this proposal will be submitted to the Commissioner of Transport (Mr G. L. Laurenson). jhe decision was made oh the suggestion' of the Otago, Association, for which. Mr P. W. 'Breen moved thf following remit:—“ That because of.the inconvenience and confusion caused by th*’present type of watranh thasj?eh : fetertce requesns'the Minister for Transport to give consideration to an improved type as-follows;—The warrant to be in sUch a form as can be placed on a windscreen, the colour to denote the year of expiry and a figure to represent the month of expiry, to face outwards; the side fecinc the driver to show the daf of expiry, the issuing authority and the other details necessary*”- . • -
