Masel set out the arguments, pro and con, for 40 debates, as well as 70 additional subjects. _ Prefatory matter gives instruction in the technique of presentation, delivery, team-work, and club organisation, with emphasis of such matters as gesture and the combative spirit One quotation; Arguments should be anticipated, thereby cutting the ground from beneath opponents’ feet and dealing their case a shattering blow. Non-fiction volumes received this week at the Canterbury Public Library, reports the librarian, include Mrs A. E. Brown’s New Zealand countrywoman’s calendar, “The Farmer’s Wife,” H. V. Evall’s ‘‘Rum Rebellion,” a study in early Australian history, Sir Henry Woods “My Life of Music.” and the Marquess of Londonderry’s “Ou'-selves and Germany.” Interesting new fiction includes “This Porcelain Clay.” by Naomi Jacob, “Mr Moto Is So Sorry.” by John P. Marquand, and “The Channel Mystery,” by W. F. Morris.
