SATURDAY’S CLUB EVENTS

The Papanui Amateur Cycling Club’s 18-milo race on Saturday afternoon from Papanui to Yaldhursl and back attracted an entry of 28. Starts up to five and a half minutes were conceded by T. Lindley. I. Forgie, J. Ralton. and C. E. Sullivan.

Fast racing conditions prevailed, and Clough won by one and a half lengths from a big bunch. There was a close finish in the sprint for fastest time, Ralton winning by half a length from Suilivan. TECHNICAL CLUB The Technical Amateur Cycling Club held an 18-milc road race over an out-and-homc course to Tai Tapu on Saturday, L. CANTERBURY CLUB ELECTS OFFICERS

The club had conducted eight road race* and 20 sports- meetings during the season, said the report presented to the first annual meeting of the Canterbury Cash Cycle Club. Mr G. Fergus presided. The report said that the road races included the Waimate to Christchurch race, which had been conducted very fullv bv the club. This was the first occasion on which this event had been promoted by any club. English Park had been leased during the summer months, and the amount of support received from both riders and the public had fully warranted this action being taken. The receipts for the 10 months that the club had been operating amounted to £l7ll 2s 2d. and the expenditure £1721 12s 2d, resulting in a loss of £lO 10s. The election of officers resulted; — Patron, Mr E. A. McKaskell; president, Mr G. Fergus; vice-presidents, 40 were elected; honorary secretary, Mr J. H. Parsons: treasurer, Mr C. L, Sugden; auditor. Mr L. Salt; referee, Mr A. E. Porter; starter, Mr G. Fergus: timekeepers, Messrs R. Smart and J. H. Parsons: delegate to the North Canterbury Centre, Mr G. Fergus; club captain, Mr C. Coman; vice-captain. Mr W. T. Weir; committee, Messrs J. Hislop, E. J. Hall, F. Flanagan, W. Cook, and F. A. Underhay: handicap§er, Mr J. H. Parsons; club reporter, Mr . Miller. The new committee elected four social committees from club members to raise funds for the coming season. It was decided to begin road racing with a 15-mile event on Saturday, June 1 *7 *
