FENCING
CHRISTCHURCH SWORDS CLUB The opening of the Christchurch Swords Club’s season will be on April 13, when exhibition bouts will be given, according to 9 decision made at the annual meeting last night. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Sir Cyril Ward; president, Mr C. E. Purchase: vice-presidents, Messrs E. C. Lewey, S.M., H. Cato, W. S. Elsom, and H. Worrall; club captain, Mr J. G. D. Ward; vice-captain, Mr T. H. Farley; honorary secretary, Miss Y. Levvey; assistant honorary secretary, Mr B. J. McAulifle; honorary treasurer. Miss M. Crespin; honorary auditor. Mr I. J. Wilson; committee, Miss M. F. Andrews, Messrs E. H. Cox and B. Ward.
In conjunction with other clubs in Christchurch it is hoped to hold an inter-club dance this year, and' arrangements are already in hand for various inter-club and interprovincial matches. . _
