OFFICIAL FORECASTS fXHE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, April 2The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Light and variable winds inland; sea breezes on the coast. Morningmist or low cloud. Weather otherwise fine and warm. Seas slight. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Variable winds, moderate southwesterly predominating. Morning mist or low cloud; otherwise fine, but cloud increasing later in the south. Warm temperatures. Seas slight to moderate. DOMINION The following is the Dominion forecast:— Fairly widespread morning mist or low cloud- Weather otherwise fair to fine, and warm. Pressure is high from Australia to beyond New Zealand, an anti-cyclone being centred over the Tasman Sea. Winds—Light to moderate in force and variable in direction, with southeasterlies predominating in the north and northerlies to westerlies from Cook Strait southwards. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rather rough but decreasing about Foveaux Strait; slight elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate and variable winds, and slight seas; freshening northerly winds advancing later from the west across the southern portion.' CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch was variable during the week-end. The sky was mainly overcast on Saturday morning, but the sun shone in the afternoon. The temperature rose sharply during the morning, and the afternoon was very warm. Sunshine yesterday morning gave place to a cloudy afternoon, when there was a fairly strong north-easterly wind and the temperature was cooler.

IN OTHER PLACES Auckland—The:weather was mainly fine oyer the week-end, with a few light scattered showers on Saturdaynight. The wind was southerly and moderate on Saturday, and the weather cloudy and fine. Yesterday was cloudy and fine, with a light wind veering from south to south-south-west. The maximum temperature was 70 degrees. The barometer was steady, the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.20 inches. Wellington—Rain fell early on Saturday morning, but thereafter there was a gradual improvement, with some sunshine in the late afternoon. Yesterday was warm and sunny. With the exception of the morning, when the wind was southerly, a northerly breeze prevailed. The- minimum temperature on Friday night was 56.7 defrees, and the maximum on Saturday 3,3 degrees. The minimum temperature on Saturday night was 53,7 degrees, and the maximum yesterday 71.4 degrees. At 3.30 p.m. yesterday the barometer reading was 1021.1 millibars. Dunedin—Although overcast for the greater part of the day. the weather was fine and pleasant on Saturday. The maximum temperature was 64 degrees, and the barometer rose steadily throughout the day to 30.01 inches at midnight. Yesterday was for the most part calm and mild, the maximum temperature being 62 degrees. The barometer remained fairly steady at about 30.15 inches.
