MOTOR-PACED RECORDS
BROKEN
In exciting cycle racing at English Park on Saturday evening, motor-paced records were broken and rebroken.
The four-lap motor-pace record of Imin 41 2-ssec was broken by C.> Coman and then rebroken by H. Smither. Coman’s time was Imin 39 l-ssec, and Smither regained the record in Imin 37sec. The Club has secured the services of H. Redden, the well-known motor-cyclist, in the motor-paced events, and he handled his machine skilfully. Miss N. Crofts was successful in establishing a women’s one-lap record of 37 3-ssec. Miss R. Norton was unsuccessful in breaking the four-lap women’s record of 2min 45 4-ssec, held by Mias Thompson, Miss Norton’s time was 2mln 49 l-ssec. Results:—
Challenge Match Race, 440yds—Doyle v. Johnston. Won by Doyle. Time: 34 1-5 sec.
Three-quarters of a Mile Open Handicap —H, Smither 1, Grose 2, L. Thompson 3. Time, Imin 32 3-ssec.
Half-mile Amateur Handicap—A. Smith 1, D. poyle 2, S. F. Smith 3. Time, imin 2 2-sseo. One mile and a half Wheel Race—H. Sjnither 1. L. Thompson 8, Sutherland 3. lime, 3mln I6sec.
Half-mile Women’s Race—Miss R. Norton 1, Miss N. Crofts 2, Miss D. McDermott 3. Time, Imin 13 4-ssee. One Mile Amateur—A. T- Smith 1, O’Connor 2, McLachlan 3. Time, 2min 12 2-ssec. Half-mile Boys’ Race—Billens 1, Barnes 2, Cameron 3. Time, Imin 10 3-ssec. One Mile Women’s—Miss M, Thomson I, Miss D, McDermott 2. Miss M. Sutherland 3, Time. 2mln 45 2-ssec.
