The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by u the Meteorological Office, Wellington, C and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: — ™ Light to fresh north-east winds, v changing to south-west possibly s during' Tuesday afternoon. Light rain possible with a southerly change, otherwise fair to fine and mild. Seas slight to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is »as follows; — light to fresh north-east to north-west winds. Weather clouding over and scattered rains developing from the south. Temperatures mild, seas slight to moderate, but rising somewhat. DOMINION The forecast for the Dominion is as follows; — Fair to fine generally at first with rising temperatures. Scattered rains developing to-morrow in the western and southern portions of the South Island. An anti-cyclone covers New Zealand, centred east. A depression is located over the western Tasman, but appears to be losing intensity. Winds—Light to moderate, but freshening, north-east to north-west. A south-westerly change possible to-mor-row in the southern South Island. Seas —New Zealand waters, slight to moderate, later rising somewhat in Cook Strait. „ . , A , Eastern Tasman Sea —Light to moderate but freshening north-east to north-west winds, changing to southerlies later in the southern portion. Seas slight to moderate, but rising m western areas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The, weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine, the sun shining throughout the morning and afternoon. In the morning there was a strong east wind, which changed to east-north-east later in the day. The sky was clear in the evening, when the temperature was mild. The maximum temperature during the day was 62.4 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and a moderate east wind was blowing. The temperature was 57 degrees and the barometer recorded 30.30 inches. Auckland— Yesterday was fine and sunny, with a moderate to fresh easterly wind. The maximum temperature was 71 degrees. The barometer rose during the morning and the reading at 5 p.m. was 30.27 inches. Wellington—The weather yesterday was fine with a light easterly breeze. The morning was cool, and the afternoon was mild. The maximum temperature was 69.3 degrees. The minimum temperature on Sunday night was 47 degrees. At 3.30 p.m. yesterday the temperature was 67.8 degrees and the barometer recorded 30.298 inches. Dunedin —The weather yesterday was fine and mild with a slight breeze from the south. The barometer fell to 30.30 inches and remained steady, and the maximum temperature was 65 degrees.
