WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION

STYX BRANCH

The monthly meeting of the Styx branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held recently. Mrs Low presided.

Mrs Dorreen, of Kansas City, gave a talk on the United States and Canada. She told of many changes she had seen in Suva and other parts she had visited on her tour.

The competition winners were:— Bloom, Mrs Smith 1, Mrs Donaldson 2; flowers, Mrs Guard 1; dress, Mrs Donaldson 1, Mrs Smith 2; jam, Mrs Donaldson 1, Mrs Smith 2. The hostesses were Mesdames McJarrow, B. Maher, and L. Maher.

HAREWOOD BRANCH

Mrs Fraser presided at the monthly meeting of the Harewood branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. One new member was elected.

Sympathy was extended in their bereavements to Mesdames Guy, McKenzie, Evans, and Newton. Mr and Mrs Grant were thanked for the use of their grounds for a successful garden party held by the division. Results of competitions were:—Knitted vest: Mrs Nunweek 1, Miss Nunweek 2. Vase of flowers: Miss Nunweek 1, Mrs Preece 2. Single bloom: Mrs Claridge 1, Mrs Orchard 2. Hostesses at the tea hour were Mesdames Webb, Mehrtens. and Nettleton.
