OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS special Service.] WELLINGTON. March 9. The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: — Light to fresh and variable winds, north-easterlies predominating, but southerlies at times. Weather cloudy to overcast, and cool, with occasional rain. Seas slight to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast lor the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light to fresh south-east to north-east winds. Weather overcast with occasional rain. Temperatures moderate and seas moderate. DOMINION The Dominion forecast is as follows: Weather In the Auckland Province mostly fair. Elsewhere cloudy to overcast with occasional rath and some moderate to heavy falls over central and southern portions of the South Island, elsewhere maihly light. Temperatures cool and moderate. Pressure remains high over the Dominion, and there Is a rather shallow depression over the central Tasman. Winds—South-east to north-east predominating, strong in some exposed positions especially, and the middle of the Dominion mostly light to moderSeas (New Zealand waters) —Rather rough in the Cook Strait area and parts of the coast south of East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea— Moderate to strong south-easterly winds, and rather rough to rough seas In the south, plsewhere moderate north-east to north-west winds and slight to moderate seas.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER

; The effects of the. change in the weather on Wednesday were felt in Christchurch yesterday, when the temperature was chilly throughout the day and night, the maximum being only 54.3 degrees.
