CANTERBURY COURT

“VERY SATISFACTORY RESPONSE”

More than £7OOO of the required £IO,OOO has been promised by local bodies throughout Canterbury as their contribution to the cost of establishing a Canterbury court at the National Centennial Exhibition. This was reported to a meeting yesterday of the Canterbury Centennial Memorial Committee by Mr J. Roy Smith, secretary of the Canterbury Court Committee. Mr Smith said that no definite replies had yet been received from local bodies from whom £2OOO was sought. However, it was proposed to send deputations to these local bodies, and it was hoped that the contributions would be sufficient to enable the court to be established. The response so far must be considered as very satisfactory. « "V
