HOUSING AT NORTH BEACH
INVITATION FOR INSPECTION BY MINISTER
An invitation will be extended to the Minister lor Housing (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) to visit North Beach to inspect several areas of land suitable for a housing scheme, according to a decision at the meeting of the North Beach Progress League last evening. Mr D. N. Scott presided. . It was decided that the Christchurch Tramways Board be urged to give greater publicity to the advantages offered under the family ticket scheme. In reply to a letter from the New Brighton Labour Party inviting the league to appoint representatives to a meeting of local organisations to discuss the holding of a combined gala in the 1039-11)40 Christmas season to raise funds ter improvements to New Brighton, Messrs J. Kelly, J. H. McIlralth, and R. D. Martin were appointed. Mrs E. Brownrigg was appointed representative to the North Beach Gala and Foreshore Improvement Society in place of Mr D. M. Scott, who resigned because of his election to the executive of the Gala Society. The secretary was instructed to send a letter expressing sympathy with Mrs J. H. Coates in her illness.
