VERDICT OF SUICIDE
WOMAN FOUND WITH
THROAT CUT
A verdict of suicide while in a state of mental depression was returned by Mr E. C. Levvey, when an inquest was held yesterday into the death of Constance Grace Wall, who was found dead on December 22 last.
Dr. Louis Bruce Stringer gave evidence, saying that Mrs Wall had given birth to a child on December 5. The confinement and the recovery had been normal, and when she had returned to her home Dr. Stringer had advised Mrs Wall to live elsewhere until her husband recovered from drinking bouts that he was said to have had. She did not do this, however, he said. Edmond Steven Wall said that he had been drinking, a little during the days before the tragedy. He had found his wife in the bathroom with her throat cut. Detective-Sergeant Duncan McKenzie was in charge of the inquest for the police, and Mr F. D. Sargent watched proceedings for the relatives.
