STOCK SALES
RANGIORA The yarding of sheep was good at the Rangiora stock sale yesterday, prices being down on previous sales. Prices were:— Sheep—Fat lambs to 21s. store lambs 5s to 8s 3d. cull lambs 3s 2d to 3s Bd, rape lambs 13s 8d to 14s Bd, wethers 10s 6d to 13s. Cattle—Cows in calf to £5, 18-months-old steers to £5 15s, 15-months old steers to £3 2s. Pigs—Porkers 44s 6d to 48s 6d, baconers 54s 6d to 67s 6d, large stores 34s to 355, good weaners 18s to 31s, weaners 11s to 14s 6d.
• ASHBURTON Prices at the Ashburton stock market yesterday showed an easing tendency compared with those realised at the Tinwald sale last week. ‘Prime quality ewes sold on a par with those of last week, but there was small demand, for the lighter grades. There was a good entry of wethers, prices being easier by Is to Is 6d. The top price of the sale was 25s 7d for a pen of 3 lambs sold on account of Geo. Kennedy (Elgin), Wethers brought' up to 20s 4d. this price going to W. R. Hammond (Winchmore) for a pen of five. Ewes made up to 13s 4d, W. G. Marshall (Winchmore) selling a pen of six at this price.

R, Taylor (Fairton), 120 at 8s 4d to 9s 4d; W, G. Marshall (Winchmore), 37 at 8s Id to 13s 4d: J. C. Heseltine (Winchmore), 23 at 8s id to 8s IOd: M. O'Grady (Wakanui), 15 at 9s Id to Os 7d; clients, 219 at 8s to 12s Id. Wethers —On account of J. Sim (Seafield). 32 at 16s lOd to 17s IOd; M. O’Grady (Winchmore), 7 at IBs Id; W. Fat J-ambs—On account of George Kennedy (Elgin), 3 at 25s 7d; L. B. Syme (Mount Somers), 11 at 16s IOd: J. Shearer (Winchmore), 100 at 21s 4d; clients, 55 at 20s sd. Stores—4B4 13s 3d. 277 rape lambs at 13s 9d to 15s 4d, 152 ewe lambs at ,10s to 12s 6d, 216 wether lambs at 9s 9d to 12s 3d, 356 twotooth wethers at 5s 2d to 10s, 51 ewes and lambs at 9s 4d. - , ' Cattle —Fat cows at £2 5s to £6, cow to profit £4 15s.
LORNEVILLE . (PRESS ASBOCI*.TIO»r TELEGRAM.) INVERCARGILL, February 14, There were slightly smaller yardings of fat cattle, sheep, and* lambs at LomeviUe to-day, • but most of the fat cattle -were aged and unfinished. The cows were of good quality. Bullocks and hpifers, of which there were only a few, advanced 10s a head. Most of the fat sheep were freezing ewes, but wethers were fully 2s up. The lambs were mostly medium to poor quality and sold at the lower schedule rates. . The rahge of prices was:^ Pat Cattle—Prime heavy bullocks £ll 17s 6d, lighter weights £lO to <5lO 15s, medium-weight heifers £7 15s to £B 10s,
light-weights £6 to £6 15s, good quality cows £8 5s to £9, medium £6 10s to £T ss, aged and unfinished £3 10s to £4 10s. Fat Lambs—Extra prime heavy butchers' lambs up to 30s, prime heavy freezing weights 23s 6d to 24s 6d, good quality 21s to 22s 6d, medium 19s to 20s, unfinished down to 16s 6d. Fat Sheep—Prime wethers 24s 6d to 85s fid, good quality 23s to 245, medium 21s to 225, light and unfinished 17s to 18s Sd, good butchers’ ewes 14s to 15s 6d, medium quality 10s 6d to 11s 6d, freezing ewes 9s 3d downwards.
TEMUKA ' There were large entries of fat lambs, sheep, end cattle at the Temuka sale. About 1200 fat lambs were yarded- Although buyers were operating on a lower schedule the entry met with a keen sale. Prices were:—Prime lambs 21s to SSs 4d, medium 18s to 19a 10d, light 16s to IBs. The fat sheep entry was composed of two races. Values were slightly better than previous sales. Prime wethers made from 16s to 18s lOd, medium from 14s to 14s lOd, prime ewes from 10s to 12s Id. and light to medium from Ss lOd to 9s, An 'entry of 150 head- of fat cattle exceeded butchers’ requirements. Passings were frequent. Cows and heifers were easier by 20s a head, and' steers by Xss. Prime steers made from £ll to £l2 12s 6d, light to medium £8 18s 6d to £9 12s 6d, prime heifers £8 to £lO 2s 6d, medium £7 to £7 12s «d, prime cows £8 to £9 7s 6d, light to medium £4 to £7 12s Bd. There was a small entry of store sheep, with a slow sale. Mixed sex lambs sold at 8s 3d, medium twd-tooth ewes at 19s 4d. two-tooth wethers from 9s to 10s 9d, and aged ewes at Ss.
