OBITUARY
MR ANDREW MANDER
Mr Andrew Mander, who came to New Zealand about 70 years ago from England, died in Christchurch recently at the age of 86. He had been ill for some time.
For 45 years Mr Mander was on the staff of A. J. White, Ltd., Christchurch, and was manager of the furniture department of that firm at the time of his retirement some years ago. He was a loyal supporter of the Baptist denomination, and was at the time of his death a life deacon of the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church. Mr Mander was twice married. His first wife was Miss Ellen Elizabeth Dryhurst, and his second wife was Miss Martha Stone, whom he married in 1883, and who predeceased her husband. Mr Mander leaves two daughters and a son—Mrs Walter Coup, St. Andrews, South Canterbury; Mrs J. Sorensen, Orepuki, Southland; and Mr William E. E. Mander, Auckland. Another daughter. Miss Mabel A. Mander. who died in 1919 at Ashburton, was a hospital matron. There are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
