THE FREEZING SEASON

OPERATIONS RESUME TO-DAY FARTHING REDUCTION IN SCHEDULE The various Canterbury freezing works reopen to-day after the holiday suspension. The anticipation that the export schedule woOld be reduced has proved correct, the various grades being down a farthing per lb. This makes 361b and under lambs 73d, and I 37-42’s 7Jd. Businessmen and others who have been travelling through the province during the holidays comment on the excellent condition of stock generally, and of ewes and lambs in particular. There should be some excellent drafts of the latter for the works. The farthing decrease in price is likely to be offset by the increase in weight.
