PRECIOUS ORNAMENT STOLEN

HISTORIC TREASURE OF SWEDISH MUSEUM

STOCKHOLM, December 28. Sweden’s' most precious antique, the Vadstena Braktea, a golden ornament, was stolen from the Royal Historical Museum. It is valued at £20,000. It was dug up in 1587 at Vadstena, where St. Brigitta founded a convent. The ornament is unique because it is the only one of the kind with an inscription in the runic alphabet. It was removed overnight from the museum’s safe, which was not damaged.
