IMPORTED LAMB AND MUTTON
Regulating Dominion Supplies
MUTUAL ARRANGEMENT SUGGESTED
(CKITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (Received December 27, 8.35 p.m.) LONDON, December 26. The agricultural editor of “The Times” states: “Now that the Government has moved to regulate imports of mutton and lamb. Dominion producers will be ready to confer. They will consider it preferable to arrange the regulation of supplies mutually, instead of leaving the matter entirely in the hands of the United Kingdom. “Failing agreement, the Government will regulate imports if home production increases as at present.” It was announced in the House of Commons on December 20 that the New Zealand and Australian Governments had been approached to regulate the increased imports of mutton and lamb to Britain as from January 15, The Empire Meat Council’s functions would be enlarged, it was also announced, to facilitate consideration of supplies of mutton and lamb.
