CURRENT NOTES

Mrs Harris Thompson left on Monday by the Maunganui on a holiday visit to Melbourne and Sydney.

Mr and Mrs J. Smith and their daughter (Auckland) arrived by aeroplane yesterday to attend the Willets —Mintron wedding, which will take place on Saturday. Mr and Mrs D. Stewart, Mr and Mrs A. Rippin (Timaru), and Misses Jean Andrews and Merle Rippin (Wellington) are staying in Christchurch for the Rippin—Rodgers wedding to-day.

Mr and Mrs I. E. Ibbetson (Sherwood Downs, Fairlie) are spending the holidays in Christchurch and Kaikoura. Margaret Mitchell is preparing for presentation to the World Centre for Women’s Archives the bibliography of source material she used for writing “Gone With the Wind.” A. collection of data on and by Amelia Earhart will be added shortly by George Palmer Putnam. The organisation has its headquarters in New York.

Mrs H. Y. Widdowson (Sumner), who was the guest of Mrs M. Rosenblum, Darling Point, Sydney, left by the Strathnaver on December 22 for Hobart and Melbourne, where she will spend a few weeks. She will return to Sydney for a short stay before leaving for New Zealand at the end of January. She will visit Auckland and Palmerston North before returning to Christchurch.

Mrs C. A. Myhre (Rossall street) is spending a short holiday at Arthur’s Pass.

Mrs A. V. Moulton (Fendalton), who has been spending several weeks in Sydney and Melbourne, returned by the Awatea on Monday. Miss Peggy Norton (Papanui road) returned yesterday from a visit to her sister, Mrs Maurice Macfarlane, Awapuni, Waikari. She and Mrs Macfarlane will leave on January 9 for a holiday visit to Picton Mrs and Miss Black (Nelson) will occupy Miss Norton’s flat during her absence.
